      What is a Refrigeration Compressor?

      13 Agust 2020

      What is a Refrigeration Compressor?

A refrigeration compressor is a mechanical device that increases the pressure of a gas (refrigerant vapor) by reducing its volume. The refrigeration compressor is one of the four fundamental refrigeration components in the cooling process and is referred to as the heart of the refrigeration cycle. The other three basic refrigeration components are: the condenser, the expansion valve, and the evaporator.

How does a refrigeration compressor work?

We can explain the working principle of the cooling compressor in its simplest form as follows:

The refrigerant, which is the cooling fluid, flows into the compressor, which compresses it and increases its pressure. Then, the refrigerant flows into the condenser where it condenses from a vapor form into a liquid form, releasing heat to its surroundings. The heat released from the refrigerant in the condenser makes it "touchably hot". In the next stage, the refrigerant flows through the expansion valve where it undergoes a pressure drop. In the final stage, the refrigerant flows into the evaporator, where it absorbs heat and undergoes evaporation. The evaporator absorbs heat from the area to be cooled. The vaporized refrigerant returns to the compressor to start the cycle again. This cycle continues until the device is turned off.

What is the function of a refrigeration compressor?

It is possible to categorize the functions of the refrigeration compressor into two main headings.:

      1. Removing heat load away from the condenser.
      2. Converting refrigerant pressure from low pressure low temperature to high pressure high temperature

What should be present in an ideal refrigeration compressor?

When purchasing this product, which cannot be considered low-priced, individuals naturally search for the most accurate answers to questions such as "What should be considered when buying a compressor?", "What is the best cooling compressor?", "How to find the most efficient cooling compressor?". The following features should be sought when buying a cooling compressor.:

      • The minimum level of starting torque
      • Efficiencies remain at a certain level even at partial loads
      • The maximum level of safety even under different operating conditions
      • The noise and vibration levels should not exceed a certain standard even at full loads and under different conditions
      • Being able to provide a relatively lower power consumption per unit cooling value
      • The product should have a long lifespan and operate without any malfunctions as much as possible

      List of all terms:

Finally, for users who want to conduct detailed research on the world of cooling, we would like to mention other auxiliary components in the refrigeration cycle at the end of our article
